On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, the University of Zakho won the Kurdistan Region Universities Basketball Championship for the fifth time in a row, after winning the final match against the University of Sulaimani.

The final match started in the presence of Dr. Kosar M. Ali, President of the University of Sulaimani, and Dr. Sherzad Z. Mohammed, Dean of the Faculty of Education and Representer of the President of the University of Zakho.

The University of Zakho was able to win the title for the fifth time in a row, after achieving victory in the final match against the University of Sulaimani, with a score-line of 81 - 73.
